Hungarian first division side MFC Sopron have appointed György Bodnár, the former Hungarian international midfield player, as their coach until 2003, following the death last week of Tibor Simon.

Seventh place
Bodnár, who previously coached MTK Hungária FC and is acting as assistant coach of the Hungarian League XI that will meet the Cyprus A team tomorrow, takes over a team lying seventh in the table. He earned 50 international caps during his playing days.

Win dedicated to Simon
Simon died of severe head injuries after he was attacked outside a nightclub. His team dedicated their victory over Újpesti TE last Wednesday to their late coach, as did the club he played at for 13 years, Ferencvárosi TC, whose fans chanted his name after the 4-0 win against Györi ETO FC.
