RC Lens forward El Hadji Diouf was today named African Footballer of the Year.
Diouf beats Kuffour
Diouf earned 93 votes to beat FC Bayern München and Ghana defender Samuel Kuffour (66) to the prize. Diouf scored eight goals in the Lions' successful FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign and was also in top form as his country reached the African Cup of Nations final in Mali in February.
Metsu honoured
Senegal's French coach Bruno Metsu won the Coach of The Year Award, and the Lions also took the National Team of The Year prize.
