Swiss remember Eggiman

Former Swiss international defender Olivier Eggiman has died aged 83.

Four title wins
Eggiman had the honour of winning the Swiss first division four times with three different teams. He first helped Lausanne-Sports to glory in 1943/44 before lifting the title with Servette FC in 1949/50. Eggiman then moved on to La Chaux-de-Fonds, and won back-to-back championships in 1953/54 and 1954/55.

World Cup honour
The centre-half, who died today, was capped 44 times by his country. He represented Switzerland at the 1950 and 1954 FIFA World Cup finals, the latter tournament being held in his home country.
