Diego Tristán was the biggest mover in the race for the European Golden Shoe after his hat-trick for RC Deportivo La Coruña but Mario Jardel still leads the way.
Great form
Tristán, fresh from helping Deportivo beat Arsenal FC 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League last week, scored three on his return to Primera División action against Club Atlético Osasuna, who were beaten 3-1. The Spain striker is now in 21st place, up from 47th, but has every chance of catching the leaders.
Pauleta pushes on
Jardel hit two for Sporting Clube de Portugal to make it 33 goals for the season in the 3-0 triumph over FC Paços de Ferreira. Four contenders are now in second place, including Pauleta of FC Girondins de Bordeuax. The striker scored as Bordeaux upset first-placed RC Lens 2-1 on Sunday.
Five goals for Lloyd-Williams
Marc Lloyd-Williams of Welsh club Bangor City FC achieved the best haul with five goals on Friday in the 7-3 victory over Flexys Cefn Druids AFC. He is now in 15th place, up from 26th, with 33 goals. It is the same tally as Jardel, but suffers from the ranking given to the League of Wales in comparison to the bigger leagues in Europe.

Only the leading five countries (Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England) on the UEFA Ranking after the 2000/01 season have 2 as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between the clubs from those countries and those from the other countries.
In a change from last season, a player cannot first play in a summer league (e.g. Norway) and then in a winter league (e.g. Spain) and combine the points total for each season. For example, last season John Carew played for Rosenborg BK and then moved to Valencia CF for the start of the Spanish season. From this season, he would have had two separate rankings.
