Bolton Wanderers FC have completed the signing of French international Youri Djorkaeff until the end of the season.
World Cup winner
The 33-year-old midfield player left German club 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Tuesday after being released from his contract. He has been capped 78 times for his country and was part of the France squads that won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and EURO 2000™.
'I want to score goals'
"I decided to sign for Bolton because the club really want me," Djorkaeff told the club's official website. "Sam [Allardyce, the Bolton manager] visited me in Germany, he told me he relied on me, and told me I would be in the first team. I want to score goals and I've never felt as fit."
'Outstanding player'
Allardyce was delighted with the acquisition, and called it "perhaps the biggest signing in the club's history". Speaking to the club's official website, Allardyce added: "Signing a player of Youri’s calibre and class underlines our determination to stay in the Premiership. He is an outstanding world-class player and a World Cup winner."
