Referee Puglisi suspended

Members

Assistant referee Claudio Puglisi has been suspended by the Italian Football Federation.

Appiah anger
Puglisi was accused of making the remarks during the on-pitch warm-up prior to Parma’s Serie A match with Atalanta BC in December. Ghanian international Appiah is reported to have barged into the assistant referee, bringing him to the floor, after which the remarks were made.

No evidence
After an initial investigation into the incident, the disciplinary committee of the IFF decided to reject the recommendation of the association’s disciplinary prosecutor that Puglisi should be suspended for four months due to a lack of evidence.

Appeal success
However, the prosecutor, Egidio Frascione lodged an appeal against the decision. The IFF appeals body have now decided to accept Frascione’s appeal and suspend Puglisi from running the line for two months.
