Maccabi Tel-Aviv missed the chance to close the gap on the top two in the Ligat ha-Al in Israel on Tuesday when they lost 1-0 to lowly Beitar Jerusalem.
Shandor goal
A 65th-minute goal from former Torino Calcio midfield player Tamash Shandor sealed Maccabi's fate and made sure that UEFA Cup contenders Hapoel Tel-Aviv and Maccabi Haifa stay 13 and 12 points clear of Tel-Aviv respectively. Beitar are still one place off the foot of the table but they are now just three points behind Maccabi Petach-Tikva and seven clear of Maccabi Kiriat-Gat, the bottom club.
