Bremen and Aris resolve Charisteas dispute

Angelos Charisteas will join SV Werder Bremen after Bremen and FC Aris Thessaloniki agreed terms.

Greek international Angelos Charisteas will join SV Werder Bremen in July after a dispute between his former club FC Aris Thessaloniki and the German side was resolved.

Terms agreed
In a meeting on Tuesday, Bremen's board and Aris president John Zahoudanis finally agreed terms for Charistea's transfer. The Greek international will now definitely move to Germany on 1 July 2002 under the same conditions as initially announced.

Get-out clause
On 28 January, Charisteas announced his transfer to Bremen for €3m, referring to a get-out clause in his contract with the Greek club allowing him to obtain a release from the club. However, Aris refused to accept the move and threatened to take action.
