Uralan Elista have raided FC Torpedo Moscow for the second time this winter to land striker Dmitri Viazmikin.
Leading scorer
Viazmikin, who finished as the leading scorer in the Vysshaya Liga in 2001, joins midfield player Andrei Gashkin, who left Torpedo recently, at the club. Uralan technical director Yuri Shislov confirmed the one-year deal after Viazmikin refused to sign an extension to his contract in the capital.
Loan move cancelled
However, Kakhaber Mjavanadze will not join Viazmikin at the newly-promoted club after the Georgian midfield player’s proposed loan move was cancelled.
Fierce competition
The 23-year-old defender was due to join Urulan from champions FC Spartak Moscow after admitting that the competition for places was forcing him to look elsewhere for first-team action. But Mjavanadze has now travelled to FC Anzhi Makhachkala's training camp in Turkey in a bid to impress the club.
