Lowly CS Sedan-Ardennes pulled off a shock 2-1 home win over Olympique Lyonnais in Le Championnat on Wednesday.
Visitors stunned
The hosts went into the match third from bottom in France but stunned their high-flying visitors with goals from Phillippe Celdran and Pius N’Diefi either side of a Phillippe Violeau strike. The defeat meant Lyon missed the chance to close the gap on leaders RC Lens, who have just snapped up their Polish defender Jacek Bak on loan for the rest of the season.
LOSC keep going
AJ Auxerre and Lille OSC both moved level with Lyon after a draw and a win in their respective games. Auxerre earned a 0-0 draw at Paris Saint-Germain FC while LOSC battled for a 4-2 away triumph over FC Lorient. LOSC raced into a two-goal lead through Mile Sterjovski and Dagui Bakari only for Lorient to restore parity through Jean-Claude Darcheville and Cédric Chabert. Yet LOSC were not to be deterred and goals from Christophe Landrin and a second for Sterjovski sealed the points.
Three for Bastia
SC Bastia enjoyed a 3-0 home won over En Avant Guingamp in a match that saw both teams finish with ten men. All Bastia's goals came in the second half: a penalty from Tony Vairelles, Michael Essien and an own goal from Pierre-Emmanuel Bordeau. Nicolas Dieuze went off for Bastia in the 65th minute while Auriol Guillaume was dismissed for Bastia six minutes later.
Montpellier game off
Wednesday’s other match saw Stade Rennais FC take an early lead at home to FC Sochaux-Montbéliard courtesy of Olivier Sorlin but Argentinian forward Marcelo Trapasso earned the visitors a point. Montpellier Hérault SC's league match at home to AS Monaco was abandoned after 24 minutes due to a frozen pitch. The game was goalless when called off. FC Metz's trip to ES Troyes Aube Champagne was postponed before kick off.
