Yiannis Kirastas, who handed in his resignation last week after his side lost 2-1 at home to FC PAOK Thessaloniki, has agreed to stay on as coach until 19 December when the league goes into its winter break.
European run
Panathinaikos are the only Greek team still involved in the UEFA Champions League but are bottom of Group C. They opened the second group stage with a 0-0 draw at home to FC Porto but were beaten 3-0 by Real Madrid CF in the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. Markarian will look to get the Athens club’s campaign back on track when they travel to play AC Sparta Praha in February.
