Belgian Eerste Klasse champions RSC Anderlecht extended their unbeaten run with a 4-2 victory over R. Excelsior Mouscron on Saturday.
Uninspiring form
Aimé Antheusis' team had started their title defence in uninspiring form, but are now unbeaten in four league games. The home team were a goal down at half time and looked all at sea before a second-half turnaround.
Ban on target
After a mix-up in the Anderlecht midfield, Zoran Ban slid in the opening goal past Filip de Wilde after 28 minutes. However, three minutes after half-time, Ivica Mornar hit the equaliser.
Late goal
Aleksander Ilic headed in Walter Baseggio's cross on the hour to put Anderlecht in front, and Aruna Dindane headed in Ilic's cross four minutes later. Ban added his second with 20 minutes remaining, leaving the home crowd fretting, but a goal from Alin Stoica in injury time decided matters.
Boffin the villain
Bernd Thijs was a penalty hero and Danny Boffin the villain as second-place KRC Genk came back from two goals down at half-time to draw 2-2 with K. Sint Truidense VV. A penalty by Boffin put the visitors ahead after 26 minutes and Genk were further behind two minutes later when Dalibor Mitrovic netted from an acute angle.
Penalty miss
St Truiden were back in the game just four minutes after the break when the referee offered a second penalty. Thijs converted, and was given a second chance from the spot six minutes later, when Mirsad Beslija fell in the area. Thijs duly obliged but Boffin, who was also offered a second chance from the spot after 64 minutes, missed and his side left the Thyl Gheyselinckstadion with just one point.
Gent held
Third placed KAA Gent also dropped two points, as KFC Lommelse SK held them to a goalless home draw. Sporting Lokeren St-Niklaas Waaslan, three points behind in fourth, drew 1-1 away at R. Antwerp FC. Patrick Goots gave struggling Antwerp the lead after 17 minutes, heading the opening goal. But Sambegou Bangoura netted 18 minutes into the second period to level the scores.
Danilevicius saves Germinal
KSK Beveren and KFC Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen shared a 1-1 draw, with Tomas Danilevicius equalising Beerschot's first-half strike from Marc Degryse. RWD Molenbeek upset K. Lierse SK with a 2-1 win, as Alexandre Kolotilko notched the decider in the second half. RAA Louviéroise required a last-minute goal from Ray Djim Luciano to take a 3-3 draw from their clash with KVC Westerlo.
