Israel round-up: Ashdod on the rise

FC Ashdod moved to within a point of Hapoel Ironi Rishon on Friday night after beating them 2-1.

Away from relegation zone
Ashdod eased away from the relegation zone by securing a home win with two first-half goals. Belgoya Milevsky gave his side the perfect start to the game when he pounced after five minutes. And Ashdod took complete control when Assi Tubbi struck in the 38th minute. Ironi Rishon pulled a goal back after 20 minutes but Ashdod hung on to claim all three points.
