Van Damme was appointed unanimously by the Belgian association’s board, of which she has been a member since June 2021, and her appointment is seen as a new milestone in the annals of Belgian football.
Vice-president EMEA VMware at Dell Technologies and chair of digital industries at Agoria, Van Damme pledged constructive and collaborative work in her new role, in close cooperation with the RBFA board and in a spirit of guaranteeing continuity.
“It gives me great confidence that the entire RBFA board and the board of directors want to continue to build the future of the RBFA with united forces,” said Van Damme after her appointment.
'Writing a bright future'
“I am reaching out to [all those involved in Belgian football] to join me in writing a bright future for the Red Devils [men’s national team], the Red Flames [women’s national team] and the hundreds of thousands of other footballers, fans and members that we represent.”
The RBFA is moving forward on a series of important projects such as the further development of refereeing and the supervision of an audit into the optimisation of the association’s internal processes.
Pascale Van Damme is seeking progress in a variety of areas within Belgian football, including the development of the women's game, while using her professional expertise to support the RBFA in its further digitalisation in the coming years. She is also keen to see a further expansion of the RBFA’s social role in the future.
