Welcome to Mallorca for the finals of the 2023 UEFA Futsal Champions League finals.
The very participation of AE Mallorca Palma Futsal and Sporting Anderlecht Futsal, who, alongside usual suspects Sporting CP and SL Benfica, will fight for the most prestigious trophy in futsal club football, is a testimony to the rise of competitiveness of the game, which grows from strength to strength.
These are exciting times for futsal, as this fast-paced and dynamic sport continues its steady growth in quality and popularity and maximises its potential across the continent. New competitions have kicked off with immense success, including the Futsal Finalissima, which added a much-needed global appeal to the game.
It is hard to imagine a more picturesque setup for such an event than the prominent Mediterranean island, and I take the opportunity to thank Royal Spanish Football Association and their president, Luis Rubiales, for their warm hospitality.
I wish the best of luck to the finalists, and may the best team win!
José Tirado, Mallorca Palma Futsal general director
