Savićević was confirmed in office until 2025 at the association’s electoral assembly on Wednesday.
"This support means a lot to me,” said Savićević, who enjoyed a superb career as a player with, among others, FK Crvena zvezda and AC Milan. “In the coming period, I will fight and work for football, as I have done so far. I will be committed and try to bring football in Montenegro to an even higher level.”
The FSCG president announced new investments to develop infrastructures, as well as to reinforce youth and grassroots programmes.
Distinguished playing career
One of the best players in Montenegrin history, Dejan Savićević started his career at FK Budućnost Podgorica, but made his name when FK Crvena zvezda won the European Champion Clubs' Cup for Yugoslavia in 1990/91.
The attacking midfielder moved on to AC Milan, where he scored for the Italian club in the 1993/94 UEFA Champions League final win against FC Barcelona.
Having ended his career at Rapid Wien, the 56-times capped international coached the Serbia and Monetenegro national team from 2001 to 2003 before moving into football administration.
His long tenure as FSCG president has included Montenegro's admission to FIFA and UEFA as an independent footballing nation in 2007. He has also been a member of the FIFA Council since 2017.
