Terms agreed
The 26-year-old Núñez becomes Celta's sixth summer reinforcement following the arrivals of Edu, Diego Placente, Fernando Baiano, Javi Guerrero and Néstor Cannobio. The 26-year-old joined Liverpool from Real Madrid CF last year as part of the deal that took England striker Michael Owen to the Nou Camp.
Injury troubles
His progress with the Reds was hampered when he suffered knee ligament damage, forcing him out of action for three months. He was under contract with Liverpool until June 2007. In his first and only year in the Premiership, he scored once in 27 appearances.
Perera arrival
Meanwhile, Celta have secured the services of striker Jesús Perera from RCD Mallorca on a four-year deal. The 25-year-old Perera arrived at Balaídos on loan during last season's transfer window and contributed five goals as the club were promoted back to the Primera División. Celta subsequently decided to buy the player from Mallorca, where he was under contract until 2006.
Friendly win
Perera and Núñez both debuted for Celta in Sunday's 2-1 friendly, win away at Willem II, the former scoring the winner.
