Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero has committed to one more season with the Turin outfit.
Due to be out of contract this summer, the forward signed a 12-month deal at the club's new stadium, which will be ready for next season. The terms take the 36-year-old − La Vecchia Signora's all-time leading appearance maker (674) and goalscorer (283) − into his 19th campaign as a Juventus player. He joined the Bianconeri in 1993 from Calcio Padova.
A 2006 FIFA World Cup-winner, Del Piero has amassed five league titles in a glittering career which also includes a UEFA Champions League final victory against AFC Ajax in 1996. "Today is a special day," Del Piero announced on Facebook.
Juventus are seventh in Serie A with three games remaining as they chase a top-six finish and a berth in next season's UEFA Europa League.
