Prolific FC Salzburg striker Marc Janko has been named Austrian Bundesliga Player of the Year for 2008/09 by the coaches, directors and presidents of the top-flight clubs.

'Extra motivation'
The 25-year-old Austrian international has notched 39 goals in his 33 league appearances so far this season, helping Co Adriaanse's side win their fifth title with two games to spare last weekend. "The verdict of this set of experts has of course really thrilled me," said Janko, before warning relegation-haunted SCR Altach that he intends to add to his haul on the final day of the campaign. "This has given me extra motivation as I look to increase my tally against Altach on Sunday. Although it's going to be difficult, perhaps I can still get a goal or two." Janko will receive the Player of the Year award ahead of that game, with Salzburg now assured a berth in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League next term.
