Muñoz makes way at struggling Getafe

Getafe CF have parted company with coach Víctor Muñoz following a third successive defeat at home to Villarreal CF, a result which leaves the Madrid club just one point above the Liga relegation zone.

Relegation danger
Getafe have lost seven of their last nine Liga fixtures, and with five games to play they are in serious danger of a return to the second division after five years in the top flight. "We've taken this decision after evaluating the situation the team finds itself in," said sporting director Toni Muñoz of the decision to dismiss Víctor Muñoz, who succeeded Michael Laudrup in June. "We know nothing yet of a replacement coach but hope to have one in place as soon as possible."
