Ronaldinho picked the perfect day to claim his first Serie A goal as his header gave AC Milan a 1-0 victory against FC Internazionale Milano, allowing S.S. Lazio to move to the summit.

Milan delight
Lazio's 3-1 win at Torino FC had given them the lead in the afternoon but unbeaten Inter were aiming to return to the top. However, 36 minutes into his Derby della Madonnina debut, Ronaldinho leapt to head in a Kaká cross. With 13 minutes left Inter lost Nicolás Burdisso after his second booking and Marco Materazzi, who had already been replaced, was later shown a red card on the bench. Milan held on and are sixth, two places and one point behind Inter.

Lazio lead
Two goals from Mauro Zárate proved the key for Lazio's defeat of Torino. A summer loan signing from Qatari outfit Al-Saad, Zárate took his tally to six strikes from five games with efforts in the 63rd and 83rd minutes – his second a penalty – after Goran Pandev had put Lazio ahead on the half hour. Torino lost Matteo Sereni and Francesco Pratali to late red cards before Nicola Amoruso's penalty consolation.

Napoli second
UEFA Cup contenders Napoli are one point behind Lazio and had Germán Denis to thank for hitting the winner with just three minutes to go at Bologna FC, a 1-0 result that extends their unbeaten start. A further point behind are Inter, Calcio Catania – who overcame AC Chievo Verona 1-0 – and Udinese Calcio, 2-1 winners against AC Siena

Denis decider
Atalanta could have moved level with Lazio but were beaten in the capital. AS Roma warmed up for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League outing at FC Girondins de Bordeaux with a 2-0 win courtesy of Christian Panucci and Mirko Vučinić. Lower down, Cagliari Calcio remain without a point after losing 2-0 to US Lecce and Reggina Calcio are still winless following a 1-0 defeat by US Città di Palermo.
