Champions FC Porto have struck a deal to take highly-rated Portugal Under-21 defender Rolando to the Estádio do Dragão from Lisbon side CF Os Belenenses.
Deal brokered
Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa announced that the Cape Verde-born centre-back will join the club on a four-year contract once his Belenenses deal expires in the summer. "Rolando will be an FC Porto player for the next four years," he said. "I personally reached an agreement with [Belenenses president] Fernando Sequeira for the transfer." Rolando has scored seven goals in 93 Liga games for Belenenses since his debut in 2004/05. The 22-year-old had been linked with English teams West Ham United FC and Newcastle United FC.
