RC Recreativo de Huelva have named Víctor Muñoz as their new coach following the recent departure of Marcelino García to Real Racing Club Santander.
Successful campaign
The 50-year-old coach, who has arrived with his assistant Raúl Longhi and physiotherapist Manuel Luis Lapuente, joins a Recreativo team who narrow missed out on a European spot last season, finishing their league campaign in eighth position, following promotion to the Primera División. An ex-Spanish international, Muñoz has coached RCD Mallorca, Villarreal CF, Real Zaragoza and took charge of Greek team Panathinaikos FC in October 2006. He left in May after the club's third-place finish was not enough to secure a 2007/08 UEFA Champions League place.
