Article body
Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi has stepped down as coach of FCU Politehnica Timisoara after a 2-0 defeat by FC Otelul Galati left the side eighth in the First Division standings.
Barren spell
The 41-year-old quit following less than a year in the role after the side's European ambitions evaporated with their sixth loss in eleven games, a spell that has brought just a solitary victory. Fourth in December, Politehnica Timisoara looked well set to fulfil the expectation created by heavy investment in the club during the last 12 months but having fallen out of contention with just two games remaining, Hagi decided it time to move on.
