FC PAOK Thessaloniki will meet city rivals FC Aris Thessaloniki in the final of the Greek Cup.

FC PAOK Thessaloniki will meet city rivals Aris Thessaloniki FC in the final of the Greek Cup after completing a 2-1 aggregate semi-final victory over AEK Athens FC on Wednesday.

Maladenis on target
AEK, trailing 1-0 from the first leg plyed on 23 April, were the more determined side in the opening exchanges and took a deserved lead after nine minutes. Christos Maladenis charged into the PAOK penalty area and slammed a left-foot shot beyond goalkeeper Elias Atmatsidis.

Chiotis the hero
PAOK rallied towards the end of the half but were unable to find a way past AEK keeper Dionissis Chiotis. Giorgos Georgiadis went close three minutes before the interval, before Chiotis denied Giorgos Koutsis two minutes later. Ilija Ivic had the chance to extend AEK's in the final minute of the half but sent his close-range header straight at Atmatsidis.

Dramatic winner
PAOK were the better team after the break and booked their place in the final at their own Toumba stadium thanks to Giannakis Okkas' 88th-minute header from Vangelis Koutsopoulos' cross. Aris made their way to the cup showpiece following an away goal victory over Egaleo FC. It will be Aris's first appearance in a Greek Cup final for 33 years - following their 1-0 victory over PAOK.
