Article body
RC Strasbourg and goalkeeper José Luis Chilavert are involved in a dispute after the club sacked the Paraguayan international who claims they still owe him at least €2.4m.
Dismissal letter
"José Luis Chilavert was sacked today by Racing Club Strasbourg," the Ligue 1 club said on their website today. "His dismissal letter was sent today by the club."
Proisy filed complaint
Chilavert claimed he had a contract bearing the signature of Strasbourg president Patrick Proisy to prove he was still owed money on his transfer from Argentinian club CA Vélez Sarsfield. However, Proisy said it was not his signature and that he had not even seen the document. He has filed a complaint to a Strasbourg court in which he alleges the contract produced by Chilavert is false.
'I'm relaxed'
Chilavert countered by saying: "The information which has been published is totally wrong. He [Proisy] will have to speak in court because his arguments are unfounded."
Not available
The 37-year-old, who said he was considering offers from other clubs, captained Paraguay in their FIFA World Cup campaign in Korea/Japan. He has not played this season and will not be available for Paraguay's upcoming friendly in Spain on 16 October. "I'm not working and it's logical for another goalkeeper to play," he said.
