FK Viktoria Zizkov have appointed Vitezslav Lavicka as their new coach.
UEFA Cup place
The 39-year-old left AC Sparta Praha last week after the arrival of Jozef Jarabinský but has made a rapid return to football. He has signed a two-year contract with Zizkov, who finished third in the Czech first division and will play in next season's UEFA Cup.
Scasny departure
Lavicka will take over from Zdenek Scasny who left the club for Greek side OFI Crete at the end of the season. The new coach and his predecessor are close friends, a factor that was important to the Zizkov board. "It was the main reason. We would like to continue in the same way," said Zizkov director Ivan Horník.
Coaching chance
Scasny gave Lavica a coaching chance four years ago as his assistant, before Lavicka worked as an assistant under Ivan Hasek and Jaroslav Hrebík at Sparta. He was handed the Sparta job until the end of the season, following the sacking of Hrebik.
Knee injury
Lavicka is former player with more than 200 league appearances under his belt in Czech football. He played for Sparta and CU Bohemians Praha before his career was ended by a knee injury.
