FK Sarajevo have won the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Premier League title for the first time since 2006/07, their third overall, after a 3-1 final-day triumph against FK Sloboda Tuzla.

Dženan Uščuplić's side went into the last game of their 30-match season a point ahead of city rivals FK Željezničar, who drew 1-1 at NK Čelik Zenica. The championship doubles the number of trophies Sarajevo have collected under Uščuplić. Last term their former player guided the capital outfit to the Bosnian Cup, but he was relieved of his duties in the autumn. Uščuplić then replaced successor Meho Kodro with seven rounds of the campaign remaining.

Leading Sloboda 2-1 at half-time thanks to goals from Leon Benko and Krste Velkoski, the Maroon-Whites rubber-stamped the victory they needed at kick-off when Nemanja Bilbija added the third goal 12 minutes from time.

"It was uncertain who would win the championship until the very end," said Uščuplić. "It was a strong competition. However, Sarajevo made the most of it and deserved the title. We have to play even better now and try to stay in Europe for as long as possible."
