Milan AC midfield player Kakha Kaladze has been named the Georgian Footballer of the Year for the second year running.
Career-best season
"I am very happy that I have won this award for the second time and I think the last season was the best in my career," he said after receiving 160 votes in the poll organised by Georgian sports newspaper Sarbieli. The SC Freiburg midfield duo, Alexander Iashvili and Levan Kobiashvili, finished second and third.
Move to Milan
Kaladze, who has won 31 caps for Georgia, started his career with FC Iberia Samtredia before switching to FC Dinamo Tbilisi in 1993. Five years later he moved on to FC Dynamo Kyiv and his performances for the Ukrainian team in the UEFA Champions League secured a €15m move to Milan in January 2001. He has since made 47 Serie A appearances, scoring seven goals.
