RSC Anderlecht central defender Roland Juhász has been named as Hungary's Player of the Year for 2009 by the Hungarian Football Federation, with Újpest FC's attack-minded Péter Kabát winning the award for the best 1. Liga player.
End-of-year poll
The 25-year-old Juhász was one of five players to receive a nomination from the MLSZ as part of the traditional end-of-year sports polls co-ordinated since 1964 by the Hungarian News Agency, MTI, with national sporting associations deciding on the winners. Former MTK Budapest player Juhász came top after a great year where he scored twice in nine games for Hungary.

In other categories, Kabát was given the nod as the nation's best locally-based player, while MTK Hungária's Zsanett Jakabfi was named top women's footballer. Zsolt Gyurcsányi (Székelyudvarhely/ACS Odorheiu Secuiesc) won the prize for the leading men's futsal player, with Ildikó Körmöczi (Univerzum NFC) honoured in the women's category.
