Kałużny, who spent last season with top-flight club Jagiellonia Białystok, has called time on a playing career that yielded two Polish Ekstraklasa titles with Wisła Kraków and 41 national-team caps. Kałużny, who operated both as a centre-back and as a defensive midfielder, plans to move to Germany to study the management side of the football business.

"I will start an 18-month course, learning not just about representing players and conducting transfers, but also about sports marketing and the role of a sporting director," said Kałużny, who also scored eleven goals for his country. A product of Zagłębie Lubin, he played for Wisła between 1998 and 2001, before having five seasons in Germany with FC Energie Cottbus, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, SC Rot-Weiss Essen and LR Ahlen. Kałużny landed at Cypriot side AEL Limassol FC in 2006/07 prior to his farewell campaign with Jagiellonia.
