Famous first for Železnik

FK Železnik claimed their first-ever trophy, and a place in next season's UEFA Cup, with a dramatic 1-0 victory against FK Crvena Zvezda in the Serbo-Montenegrin Cup final thanks to a last-minute strike from midfield player Dejan Radjenovic.

Missed chances
Despite the absence of five players through injury and suspension, Ratko Dostanic's Crvena Zvezda still created enough opportunities to win the game. Milan Dudic missed an early header while Ardijan Djokaj and Vladimir Mudrinic both failed to convert chances either side of half-time.

Djuraskovic dismissed
Borislav Mikic created Železnik's first opening just past the hour but Zoran Djuraskovic could not find the target from six metres. Djuraskovic's evening turned from bad to worse 12 minutes from time as he was sent off for dissent, and Crvena Zvezda almost made the extra man count six minutes later but Radovan Krivokapic was unable to break the deadlock.

Radjenovic delight
Just as it seemed the match would end scoreless, however, Železnik snatched victory in the 90th minute. Crvena Zvezda left-back Aleksandar Lukovic fouled Aleksandar Pantic and, from the resulting free-kick, Borislav Mikic picked out Radjenovic, whose close-range header gave goalkeeper Ivan Randjelovic no chance.

Djoincevic delight
"We deserved this," said Železnik coach Cedomir Djoincevic. "We believed in ourselves, controlled the situation and played on the counterattack. In football, sometimes you can see only one goal, in the 90th minute. We were the better team today, and I congratulate my players."
