Adds to squad
Basel coach Christian Gross was keen to add to his squad after losing Hakan Yakin and Marco Streller to VfB Stuttgart and Antonio Esposito to Varese Calcio during the winter break. The 26-year-old Guerrero, whose preferred role is behind the forwards, could make his debut at BSC Young Boys on Sunday when the Swiss league season resumes after the winter break.
World champion
Guerrero, who was part of Argentina's FIFA World Youth Cup-winning squad in 1995, arrived in Switzerland in 2001 from CA Independiente but injuries have restricted him to 46 appearances and six goals for Zürich. He becomes the fourth Argentinian at Basel, joining compatriots Matías Delgado, Christian Giménez and Julio Hernán Rossi.
