Article body
Defending Austrian Bundesliga champions FC Tirol Innsbruck put their recent poor form behind them to move 17 points clear at the top with a 1-0 victory over SV Austria Salzburg.
Back on form
Tirol, who are considered certainties to retain their Austrian league crown, had lost two of their last four games but returned to form on Saturday thanks to Roland Kirchler's 21st-minute goal.
Inconsistent Kärnten
FC Kärnten, who defeated Tirol 2-1 last weekend, once again suffered from the inconsistency which has plagued their season after they went down 1-0 at lowly SV Ried. Oliver Glasner netted the only goal of the game after 65 minutes.
Grazer miss out
Grazer AK missed out on the chance to move second after they were held to a 1-1 draw at SK Rapid Wien. Swedish striker Jones Kusi-Asare put Grazer ahead after 13 minutes but Florian Feldhofer scored on the hour mark to earn Rapid a share of the points.
Admira beaten
Life does not get any better for VfB Admira Wacker Mödling at the foot of the table. The basement club took the lead in their match against relegation rivals Schwarz-Weiss Bregenz but were hammered 5-1.
Miserable night
Dennis Onyewenjo's seventh-minute opener stunned the home crowd but the visitors joy did not last long as two goals apiece from Axel Lawaree and Eric Regtop, plus a Patrick Pircher strike capped a miserable night for Admira, who have now lost 19 of their 27 games.
