UEFA has unveiled its strategy at the 43rd Ordinary UEFA Congress in Rome.
The strategy – Together for the Future of Football* – covers the period between 2019 and 2024, and has been drawn up in consultation with European national associations, leagues, clubs and players' representative groups. It is designed to ensure that UEFA remains true to its core values as the governing body of European football, and is in a position to drive progressive initiatives and programmes to be implemented over the next five years.
The strategy is based on four main pillars
- Football;
- Trust;
- Competitiveness;
- Prosperity
It was updated at the 45th Ordinary Congress, in April 2021, with the addition of a fifth pillar:
• Responsibility
These themes focus, among others, on increasing participation, improving good governance at all levels, allowing teams more opportunities to play competitive matches, enhancing engagement for football fans around the world and guaranteeing all our activities are founded on the values of respect and sustainability.
The strategy calls for all football stakeholders to work together in a spirit of cooperation and togetherness – with the overall well-being of the European game always in mind.
