Head coach of Romania from 1975 to 1976, Drăgușin was also the team's assistant coach at the 1990 FIFA World Cup.
He also had impact outside of Europe, becoming the first foreign national coach in Iraq's football history (1962-1963), another year (1965-1966) being spent as national head coach of Syria shortly afterwards.
A genuine football encyclopaedia, he acted between 1991 and 2002 as chairman of the Romanian Football Federation's Coaching School.
