On behalf of the European football community, UEFA strongly condemns the disgusting racist abuse directed at several England players on social media after Sunday's EURO 2020 final.
There is no place in sport or society for any kind of discriminatory behaviour. UEFA stands united behind the players and the English FA's call for the toughest possible punishments for all those responsible.
Such sickening behaviour runs contrary to the spirit of a tournament which, over the past five weeks, has done so much to demonstrate the power of football to act as a bridge between different communities and countries across Europe.
Equal Game
These incidents only strengthen UEFA's commitment to fighting all forms of discrimination, particularly through its Equal Game public awareness campaign and national association projects that use football's popularity as a mass participation sport to educate communities across Europe.
