Croatia were the hosts of UEFA Futsal EURO 2012, appointed by the UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Tel Aviv on 24 March 2010.
The home nation were joined by holders Spain, Italy, Portugal, Russia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Romania, Slovenia and Turkey in the finals, with the draw held at 11.30CET on Friday 9 September in Zagreb's Hypo Expo XXI conference centre. The teams were split into four groups of three with the top two from each section progressing to the knockout phase, Spain eventually winning.
Two venues were used for the final tournament: the 15,200-capacity Zagreb Arena and the 10,931-seater Spaladium Arena in Split, both opened for the 2009 World Men's Handball Championship.
In hosting the Futsal EURO finals, Croatia followed Hungary, who staged the first expanded 12-team event in January 2010, Portugal (2007), the Czech Republic (2005), Italy (2003), Russia (2001) and Spain (1999). Antwerp in Belgium will be the venue for UEFA Futsal EURO 2014.
