Teenage midfielder Valter Poghosyan has been called up by Armenia for the UEFA EURO 2012 qualifiers against Slovakia and Andorra.
Coach Vardan Minasyan has rewarded Poghosyan for his fine displays with the Armenia Under-19 and U21 sides, as well as the promising season he is enjoying with FC Banants. The 18-year-old will hope to make his international bow in Yerevan against Slovakia on 8 October, or in the same city against Andorra four days later.
However, Armenia, who have one point from their first two Group B matches, go into the games without two FC Mika defenders: Aghvan Mkrtchyan is injured while Hrayr Mkoyan remains short of fitness after a lengthy suspension.
