Denmark coach Morten Olsen has included Leon Andreasen in his 23-man squad for the upcoming UEFA EURO 2016 play-off with Sweden – the Hannover midfielder's first call-up in more than a year.
"Leon Andreasen is the type of player who will fight for his country at any time," said Olsen. "His recent performances for Hannover have impressed me, particularly when he is used in central midfield, which is where he is best and is where we also intend to use him."
Borussia Mönchengladbach defender Andreas Christensen and Ajax forward Viktor Fischer are also new names compared with Olsen's previous squad. "Andreas Christensen is included because he can play in central defence as well as right-back and central midfield, while Viktor Fischer really convinced me in his latest league match for Ajax."
Olsen has left open the possibility of drafting one or two more players after this weekend's domestic league programme. He said: "I will be looking in particular for a back-up player for Riza Durmisi at left-back." Denmark travel to Solna for the 14 November first leg, before the decider in Copenhagen three days later.
