Montenegro kept their UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying hopes alive with a 2-0 Group G win against Liechtenstein in Podgorica, Fatos Bećiraj and Stevan Jovetić the men on target.
Skipper Mirko Vučinić nearly put the hosts ahead on two separate occasions in the first 12 minutes of the match. The al-Jazira forward missed the target with two headers from the penalty spot, however, while Jovetić's eighth-minute effort whistled past the post.
Bećiraj eventually opened the scoring in the 38th minute, set up by a Jovetić cross. The Dinamo Minsk player logged his first goal of qualifying with a volleyed strike that bounced into the back of the net past goalkeeper Peter Jehle.
Bećiraj returned the favour in the 56th minute, creating Jovetić's goal by sprinting down the left before sending a low cross to the edge of the area. The Internazionale Milano attacker controlled the pass and placed his shot low into the corner. Branko Brnović's men now lie fourth in the section, three points behind Russia in third.
