Article body
The Faroe Islands will try to end an eventful UEFA EURO 2016 campaign on a high, though visitors Romania have yet to concede a goal on the road in Group F.
• Romania, certain of a play-off spot, will be in France next summer with victory against the Faroes. A draw will suffice if Hungary do not win in Greece, while they can lose and still come second if Hungary are defeated in Piraeus.
Previous meetings
• Claudiu Keşerü scored his fourth goal for his country to give Romania a 1-0 win against the Faroese in their Group F encounter in Ploiesti on 29 March.
• The sides have now met five times, with Romania winning all five games.
• The Faroes can take comfort from the fact their results against Romania have improved significantly since a 7-0 away loss and a 4-0 home defeat in 1994 FIFA World Cup qualifying; on the road to the 2010 finals, the Faroes went down 1-0 in Torshavn and 3-1 in Piatra Neamt. Thus their home and away results have improved with every encounter – suggesting perhaps a draw or better in Torshavn on 11 October.
• Egil á Bø's strike in the aforementioned fixture in Piatra Neamt remains the Faroes' only goal in four matches with Romania.
Form guide
• The Faroes' best-ever defensive performance over the course of a campaign was in UEFA EURO 2000 qualifying, where they conceded 17 times in ten outings – an average of 1.7 per game. They have conceded at a rate of 1.55 a match in the current campaign.
• The Faroes' best points haul for a qualifying tournament prior to this campaign was seven points in the 2002 World Cup preliminaries. Lars Olsen's team now have six to their name.
• Before the 1-1 draw against Finland on 8 October, Romania had not conceded in six Group F games – though the three matches prior to the Finland game had ended 0-0. They have not been breached at all away from home in Group F (W2 D2).

• The nations' clubs have met in five UEFA competition matches, with the Romanian teams producing the record W4 D1 L0, with no goals shipped.
