Gutman proud of brilliant Israel

We finally showed our strength when the chips were down. The crowd gave us the power – I don't remember an atmosphere like this for an international match. That was all the players were talking about when they came in for half-time. We created so many opportunities, we played intelligently going forward. What more can I say? I'm proud of my boys. This is what I work for: high pressure and players that are close to each other. I watched the final minutes of the game between Belgium and Wales. Wales played very well and made Belgium look bad. But we can never know what March will bring [when Israel play Wales]. 

You saw a team that was very united. I bow before them, they were great and I'm proud to be their coach. I wish the next game was next week. This is a tough group and it was fantastic to win. When 30,000 fans sing the national anthem it makes you shiver, the crowd pushed us forward all the way. Our goal is for the national team to continue at this pace, this is what we are aiming for. Bebras Natcho is a game changer, coming at you from every angle. You could see he was doing everything and more. He was there for the nation.

We have to put in a good word for the fans, to the 30,820 people who made such an electric atmosphere. This was a big driving force for the team. We can't talk too much because we have two big matches in a few months – we should just be happy for now. My previous two matches were good, but I just didn't score and because of that I was criticised. But today we played as a team, all for one, and this win is dedicated to all of Israel in the hope of great days ahead for Israeli football.

I want to congratulate Israel for their deserved win, they beat us in every aspect in the first half and after the red card it was over. We still have a chance. We didn't start the game the way we wanted. Israel were much better tonight and they deserved to win. Technically we didn't live up to our potential and that is what cost us. They outplayed us in midfield where we are strongest. I was convinced we would play well, but we were handicapped by Edin Džeko and Vedad Ibišević's absences. It was even harder in the second half, playing with ten players.

It's a shame to lose like this against Israel. That burden is on all of us. I have faith we can do better in the future, but some things need to change.
