Branko Brnović, Montenegro coach
There was a lot of pressure ahead of this game and I am very satisfied with the team performance, especially considering we were without three key players – Stevan Jovetić, Marko Baša and Nikola Drinčić.
We had a lot of problems preparing for this, but my players responded in a great manner. They were patient, even when they missed three great opportunities at the beginning. They believed that playing like this would bring them chances. Mirko Vučinić was a real leader tonight, Nemanja Nikolić had a very good game too; but, above all, this is a victory for team spirit.
Žarko Tomašević, Montenegro defender
We controlled the game from the start and could have scored three goals in the first half. It was very important that we didn't lose our heads after missing several opportunities. We had confidence and knew we were the better side. I am very happy about my goal but the most important thing is that we gained our first three points.
Nemanja Nikolić, Montenegro midfielder
It was a very important win against a team that always pose a real threat. We played a good game, enjoyed a lot of possession and scored at an ideal time. Most important of all, we played as a team, everyone giving their all. I am delighted if my performance satisfied the coach and our fans. I always give my all for Montenegro.
Ion Caras, Moldova coach
Congratulations to Montenegro – the better team won tonight. They wanted the points more than we did, they fought hard for them and got their reward. Obviously, Montenegro wanted revenge for the defeat in our previous meeting.
We made a lot of mistakes in midfield and both goals we conceded came from our mistakes. I will search hard for a reason why we played so poorly in our first game.
