Raţ: Hungary did not deserve Romania point

It isn't a fair result because Hungary did not figure until the 82nd minute when they scored the goal – they did not manage to reach our level. That's why it is a big disappointment for us, because we really dropped points.

I wouldn't agree that we were better in the first half and the Hungarians dominated the second, because except for the goal from the free-kick and their big opportunity in the last minute they didn't have any chances. I would say that football gave them too much tonight and they really didn't deserve to draw in Bucharest.

Unfortunately we did not get all three points. If we consider how we played in the first half we should have won but we did not score earlier or get the second goal and Hungary equalised from the free-kick. This draw is not a drama, at the end we got a point. Now we must go to Helsinki at full steam ahead. My first priority is to recover my players, physically and mentally.

We wanted to attack in the second half too but it is almost impossible to control a match from the beginning to the end. Besides, four important players [Alexandru Maxim, Vlad Chiricheş, Florin Gardoş and Raul Rusescu] have not beeen playing 90 minutes a game for a while.

Honestly speaking I don't know if I am satisfied or not. Taking into consideration only the big opportunity missed by [Nemanja] Nikolić in the last minute, I should be sad. But overall I am satisfied with this point. Romania dominated the first half, when we were a little bit shy and we did not manage to get service to [Ádám] Szalai, who was too isolated up front.

But at half-time, even though Romania were 1-0 up, we started to believe in ourselves and to be more confident. We fought for every ball and started to transform into reality things we had worked on in training. Playing very compact in midfield and launching counterattacks, we could break the Romanian defence and we also managed to put last year's 3-0 loss here behind us.

Our group is now maybe the most balanced of them all. Four teams have equal chances of qualifying or not.

We did not start the match, and I am speaking about the first ten minutes, as we wanted. We did not believe that what we worked on during the training sessions would actually work. But step by step we recovered and came back into the game until we conceded the goal.

If we had scored first, maybe we would have won. I am very satisfied with how we played in midfield, how we closed the spaces and how we won the ball in that area, but the attack did not work – we did not manage to continue and to develop moves. But I am not worried, because after two or three matches the attack will work as well.

I don't want to mention any one player because the whole team has to be praised. Honestly speaking, Romania did not surprise me at all – maybe only the fact their defence went deeper than expected after the break. The Romanians got tired after the first 20 to 30 minutes, when they ran hard aiming to score. It was impossible to keep this rhythm for 90 minutes. But Romania remain a very strong team.
