Djurovski ready to breathe new life into FYROM

Coach Boshko Djurovski will lead the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia through UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying after being appointed as Cedomir Janevski's permanent successor.

Djurovski, 51, has agreed a two-year contract with the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM), with the option of extending the agreement to 2018. "We chose Djurovski because we have a strong belief in his expertise and professional dedication," the FFM announced. "We're convinced he will be a coach who ... will lead Macedonia to greater success in the next qualifying campaign."

Djurovski is best associated with FK Crvena zvezda, where he won five league titles as a player. Capped by Yugoslavia and, following independence, FYROM, Djurovski also lifted the Swiss championship in 1994 with Servette FC, where he began his coaching career. He had spells at FK Rad and FK Radnički Obrenovac before returning Crvena zvezda and steering them to the Serbian title in 2007.

He has recently been working as Dragan Stojković's assistant at Japan's Nagoya Grampus. "It is a huge honour and satisfaction to be appointed the new manager of Macedonia," said Djurovski. "I will invest all of my football knowledge so that we can make significant progress as a team. What I can promise is that we will take a dynamic, attacking approach.

"Macedonia have the potential to achieve much more in European football. We need a fresh approach, more energy, and I hope I'll be able to provide that."

Djurovski, who turns 52 next month, fills a post vacated by Čedomir Janevski in September. Zoran Stratev took temporary charge for the country's last two 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers; FYROM finished bottom of their group.
