Cedomir Janevski has left his post as coach of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to take the reins at Belgian First League outfit RAEC Mons, replacing Enzo Scifo.
Appointed in August last year to take the place of John Toshack, Janevski's contract was due to take him to the end of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, but the 52-year-old decided to leave his post to take charge of the side bottom of the Belgian First League table.
"[Janevski] made a significant contribution to the improvement of our national team," said Petar Milosevski of the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM). "However, based on his own personal reasons he decided to accept a different professional challenge. We can only say that we wish him all the luck in his work."
Janevski enjoyed spells in Belgium as a player with Club Brugge KV, R. Charleroi SC and KSC Lokeren OV, as well as guiding Brugge to a Belgian Cup success in 2007 as coach. "I have always said I wanted to return to Belgium, and I seized the opportunity as soon as it appeared," he said.
Coordinator of national youth teams, Zoran Stratev, will take temporary charge of the senior side for their final two Group A qualifiers, away against Wales and Serbia in October.
