Deivydas Matulevičius and Tadas Kijanskas were on target as Lithuania defeated Liechtenstein for the second time in FIFA World Cup qualifying Group G.
Matulevičius put the Baltic nation ahead on 18 minutes, pouncing on a defensive error, and defender Kijanskas made it two before half-time. Csaba László's men, out of the reckoning for the top two spots, will aim to add to the victory column when they host Latvia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in their final two games.
Lithuania started like a team eager to end a winless streak which stretched back to their 2-0 triumph in Vaduz 11 months ago. Matulevičius' shot from the left side of the penalty box was saved by Peter Jehle, but five minutes later the same player seized possession and had time to pick his spot in a one-on-one situation.
CS Pandurii Târgu Jiu striker Matulevičius was at the heart of Lithuania's best moves. He headed over a Deividas Česnauskis cross before Kijanskas turned in a centre from Česnauskis's younger brother Edgaras five minutes before the break.
Lithuania were content with their lot, but the visitors' only significant opportunity to reduce their arrears came when Mathias Christen broke into the penalty area and had his effort saved by Žydrūnas Karčemarskas.
