Serbia draw another blank

Serbia failed to score again in their latest friendly against Poland as the UEFA EURO 2012 co-hosts earned a deserved draw in Kufstein, Austria.

Poland had the upper hand in the opening half an hour despite the treacherous conditions underfoot, winger Jakub Błaszczykowski going close twice early on. Robert Lewandowski provided an even greater threat on 17 minutes following a corner by Błaszczykowski, his close-range effort repelled on the line by Aleksandar Kolarov.

Serbia sparked into life when a fine right-wing cross by Miloš Krasić found Danko Lazović but his shot was stopped by Łukasz Fabiański. After the break, Radomir Antić's men were more purposeful but could not convert their chances.

Zoran Tošić, a half-time substitute, combined with Marko Pantelić to release Lazović after 55 minutes only for Fabiański to win their latest duel and Poland nearly took advantage when Błaszczykowski's long-range strike was brilliantly saved by Vladimir Stojković, another interval introduction.

The best opportunity for Serbia came with 17 minutes remaining when Dragan Mrdja played in Pantelić, only for the striker to fire over Fabiański's goal from a couple of metres.

Having lost 1-0 to New Zealand on Saturday, Antić's charges are, therefore, short on goals with one friendly to play – against Cameroon on Saturday – before they face Ghana, Germany and Australia in Group D in South Africa.
