Slovakia yet to settle on selection

Slovakia coach Dušan Galis is gearing up for the FIFA World Cup play-off against Spain on 12 and 16 November by naming a large provisional squad.

Form and fitness
Galis will then assess the form and fitness of his players over the weekend before cutting his party to a 22-man list ahead of their get-together in Bratislava next Tuesday. Among the names in the frame for the two-legged tie on 12 and 16 November are untried goalkeeper Marián Kelemen, playing his club football in Spain with CD Tenerife, and the SK Slavia Praha midfield duo of Dušan Švento and Matej Krajčík.

Contrast noted
The coach believes there is a big contrast between the two nations, who finished runners-up in their qualifying groups to earn this last chance at a place in next year's finals. He said: "Spain will no doubt play offensively with only goal, victory. The problem for their coach Luis Aragonés is simply to choose the best players. We have to prepare carefully and find the ideal lineup."
